History around churches group : The next visit is on 22nd September 2026 to St.Peter the Apostle in Seaford. Please let Ann or Carol know if you need a lift.
PLEASE NOTE: After six years of leading the group Ann and I have decided to step down from our roles. We have enjoyed finding interesting churches to visit and the many informative tours and talks. If someone would be interested in taking on the leadership of the group and keep it going then we are more than happy to advise in any way we can. We thank all our lovely members for their support and company over the last six years. Carol.
Richard Durrant Performance at St Nicholas of Myra Brighton

Richard is performing there as a finale to his 40th Anniversary Tour:
Things come full circle for this special tour finale gig in the same church where, as a 10-year-old kid, Richard first played in public. This is also the venue Richard appeared at in June 1986 for the warm-up gig for his London debut. A wonderful live music event for acoustic and classical guitar lovers and the musically curious. Featuring Richard’s original, haunting guitar music including his newly released track 'The Art of Levitation'.
Our Annual "Party in the Park"was on Monday 10th August from 12:00 on this year, This is a communal Picnic in the Patcham Peace Garden. This was open to all, with a chance to catch up with friends and/ or make new ones!

The 2026 Annual Holiday was from June 22 to 26th, when we visited Devon, in the area of Tiverton. Despite the very hot weather we all survived and enjoyed the trip!

The annual Patcham Duck Fayre 2025 was held on the grounds of the Patcham Schools and in the Community Centre on Sunday August 24th. This year we had a shared plot with the Memorial Hall and the Local History Group. We had good conversations with some lovely people.
We held our annual Picnic in the Park in the Peace Gardens on Old London Road on Monday 11th August 2025 from 12:00 on. The weather was kind to us once more and we enjoyed this social occasion, a great opportunity to catch up with each other.

Our 2025 Annual Holiday of a coach trip to the Waterways of Cheshire and North Wales, 30TH JUNE TO 4TH JULY 2025, proved a great success and was enjoyed by all who went. Many thanks again to our organiser Pamela who made it all go so smoothly.

What is u3a all about?
The u3a movement was founded over 35 years ago and its main aim is to encourage groups of people in their “third age” to meet together to continue their enjoyment of subjects and things which have interested them in the past or may prove to interest them in the future. What is your “third age”?
Loosely it is any time in your life when you have the opportunity to pursue your own interest. It is primarily aimed at those no longer in full time employment or raising a family. From the start the guiding principle was to promote learning through self-help interest groups. These might cover any subject or topic of interest to members. The guiding principle was to be self-help and self-funding, and based on collaborative learning. Members were to be encouraged to learn from each other with all members of a group contributing to the learning process.
From its beginnings in 1981 the movement has expanded rapidly and at the end of 2016 u3a reached the milestone of 1000 groups.

Patcham u3a aims to cover people living in the Patcham/Westdene/Withdean/Hollingbury areas of Brighton though members from further afield are welcome, and we also collaborate with other local u3as
